For me, recruitment is really only about two things, which are attraction and assessment.
Most recruiters do very little meaningful assessment – and, to be fair, how can they, because you can’t be an expert in all jobs.
So, to my mind at least, attraction is the area where recruiters can deliver the most value. And it’s probably also much easier to do than assessment.
And what I mean by that is testing them, and interviewing them, and making notes, and feeding that information back to whoever the line manager is.
That’s hard work. Writing job ads isn’t. Or I don’t think it is.
